Fifth International Symposium on Technology and the Mine Problem

Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey CA 93943

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Fifth International Symposium on Technology and the Mine Problem is planned for April 21-25, 2002. Our intention is to return to a primary emphasis on technolo- gy and technical research, contributing to major systems applications in mine technology, naval mine warfare, land mine warfare, humanitarian demining, and/or unexploded ordnance site remediation.

We expect that technology and technical research papers will fill a significant portion of plenary sessions and nearly all parallel sessions. A reduced number of Department of Defense senior representatives, compared to the past, will speak to operational requirements and the technical shortfalls/challenges in the major application areas noted above.

Papers for plenary presentation will be selected on merit and potential breadth of application across more than one application area. A balance between land and sea applica- tions will be another factor in plenary paper selection.

A Peer Review Process will be available through the Society of Counter-Ordnance Technology (SCOT). Papers accepted through this process will be published in the new, refereed, electronic Journal of the Society for Counter-Ordnance Technology. SCOT will maintain archival copies and make papers available to the public at cost.

Please use the enclosed Abstract Submission Form. Abstract sent without the Abstract Submission Form will be returned.

Albert M. Bottoms, General Chair, NPS Symposium Series

Papers are sought in the following technology/technical research areas. Paper submissions in areas not listed will also be considered for applicability and presentation.
